Last month, Bournemouth & Poole College’s Students’ Union (BPCSU) hosted an online event for its Social Responsibility Day.

The purpose of the event was to advertise and promote greenness in and around the College. Hosted virtually, students were able to log onto an online event to hear about volunteering opportunities and eco-friendly companies.

BPCSU are actively focussing on reducing their carbon footprint. As part of their Student Executive manifesto, BPCSU will host a series activities and events in which students can attend and voice their own opinions and ideas on ways that the College can become more environmentally friendly.

As part of the online event, BPCSU also promoted World Mental Health Day to help raise awareness for mental health, whilst also promoting mental health charities.

Harriet Uren, Student Engagement Officer at Bournemouth & Poole College, said "It was important for us to emphasise the importance of sustainability and to provide students with an interactive way to learn more about being eco-friendly and protecting the environment.

"We enjoyed working with local organisations in Dorset, to help spread the message to the students and bring the local community together. We are very pleased with how the event went and we will continue to find new ways to create engaging online events to make our next Social Responsibility Day even better."

There are three Social Responsibility Days a year, the next taking place on Thursday 25th March 2021. For more information, please visit studentfirst.org.uk/social-responsibility-days
