Student Engagement Coordinator
My Role at The College
My title is Student Engagement Coordinator which means that i am responsible for anything that involves student's this includes running the various Student Voice frameworks that are embedded within The College (we call them Our Voice, Our College). i am also responsible for developing the Student Representation systems and making sure that these are also embedded within college life. Representation is important and i make sure that your Student Engagement Committee work hard as representing you and getting your voice heard at all levels of the college. I organise student events like when we go to Thorpe Park or Harry Potter World. Volunteering, Social Responsibility and other activities and enrichment for students are also key responsibilities that my myself and my team deliver for our students. I have been at the college since March 2019 and i still love my job, every day is different yet challenging however knowing that what i do has a positive influence on a student’s journey at The College is important to me.
I have many other responsibilities at The College, I manage the Student's Union (BPCSU) which consists of the Student Executive team, Ambassadors and HE reps who are responsible for making sure your voice is heard and you are represented. I also manage the Student Engagement Team who are there to facilitate and create opportunities for students (we are the staff behind BPCSU). We organise Our Voice, Our College Weeks, Focus Groups, Surveys and all the other ways that we can gain feedback from students in order to change the college in a positive way. We organise all of the BPCSUS events, activities and we also staff both Hubs, one at Lansdowne and one at North Road. As well as the Student Engagement Team, I also manage the Student Experience Apprentice Academy, which currently has 4 apprentices who want to develop their skills and gain valued experience in a range of areas within the Student Experience Directorate.
My previous experience includes working for another student’s union, in a variety of roles including Welcome Crew Manager where I coordinated 70 student volunteers who offered to help out during welcome week. Student Events intern which gave me valuable event management experience. I was also an elected officer, Department Rep and an Ambassador and I won awards for my dedication to students at the Union. All of this experience gave me a passion for student voice, students unions and what we do, which is why i love my job. If you want to talk to someone about what it is like to be an elected officer, ambassador, volunteer for the students union or work for one please come and see me and ask any questions you may have.
