Social Responsibility Day

9th October 2018

Community & Social Action days are gone. Social Responsibility days are here, with tons more versatility!

New for 2018/19
Students can join our Volunteering Facebook group facebook.com/groups/BPCSUVolunteering
where we will be regularly sharing charities volunteering and fundraising opportunities throughout the year. Students can also join volunteering clubs and activities to fit in around their studies by visiting us in The Hub. Students can now log their volunteering hours with us www.studentfirst.org.uk/get-involved/volunteering/ and get support in their areas of interest. This will be in collaboration with many charities and students will have the chance to achieve certificates and a celebration at the end of the year!

Meet Pete Thompson, a former student and staff member, who recently ran The Tour De France.
His accomplishments have been talked about all over the world and he is coming back to The College to talk about his experiences, his fight to raise the profile of mental health and the amazing work he has done for charity. Pete is a huge inspiration and this year raised over £25,000 for charities including Dorset Mind, our Charity of the Year!
Dorset Mind was voted for by students and BPCSU will be supporting them for 18/19. The charity will be here to talk to students about their charity and how everyone can get involved and support this year!
Ecotainment will be hosting a film screening of The True Cost!
The True Cost is a groundbreaking documentary film that pulls back the curtain on the untold story and asks us to consider, who really pays the price for our clothing?
Filmed in countries all over the world, from the brightest runways to the darkest slums, and featuring interviews with the world’s leading influencers including Stella McCartney, Livia Firth and Vandana Shiva, The True Cost is an unprecedented project that invites us on an eye opening journey around the world and into the lives of the many people and places behind our clothes.
