It has been a great term for students at the College and for BPCSU. We have held many successful events and trips, so far raising over £300 for our Charity of the Year, Julia’s House!

In September 2017 we held two awesome Freshers events at Lansdowne and North Road, where nearly 3000 of you joined us to snap up ton’s of freebies and useful info. The Freshers events showcased loads of great features of College life, with the Students’ Union presenting all of their upcoming trips and the College Sport Maker making students aware of all of the different Sports Clubs that are on offer.

The were lots of national and local companies, services and charities. Teams from Dorset Police, Yobu, Subway, YMCA, GoSkydive, Nando’s and many others attended to engage with students.

In October we took over 90 students to Thorpe Park for one of their signature ‘Fright Night’ events. Students had a great time on all of the thrilling rides, with Derren Brown’s ‘Ghost Train’ being mentioned as a particular highlight.

In November we held a Football Tournament at Littledown Leisure Centre to raise money for Julia’s House. 180 students and staff took part in a thrilling knock-out competition which was eventually decided by a nail-biting penalty shoot-out.

In another effort to raise money for Julia’s House we also held a Winter Art Competition. Out of the entries six student designs were chosen to be templates for the BPCSU’s Season’s Greetings Cards. These were then put on sale online, in The Hub and The Cage coffee shop and 100% of the money raised was donated to Julia’s House.

In December we took 40 excited students to London for a tour of the Harry Potter studios. Students and staff had great fun indulging themselves in Diagon Alley and on foaming mugs of butterbeer.

We also held a Christmas Raffle where students had the opportunity to win Amazon gift vouchers, free NUS cards, Nando’s vouchers and plenty of Santa and reindeer chocolates. All the proceeds from this raffle were again donated towards Julia’s House.
